initial strategy was based on repeated sampling (~10 days interval) at 2 contrasted stations (M2 and M4) and additional sampling at 2 intermediate stations (M1 and M3). Station M2 is located in high\u2013production iron fertilized waters above the Kerguelen plateau, and station M4 is located in low-production HNLC waters. Despite rough sea conditions encountered during the cruise (wind gusts up to 85 knots), the four stations have been sampled for every planned parameter. C vertical export\u00a0\u00a0 has been estimated by the\u00a0<sup>234<\/sup>Th\u00a0approach.<\/h5><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-accordion-item\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div id=\"elementor-tab-title-1882\" class=\"elementor-tab-title\" data-tab=\"2\" role=\"button\" aria-controls=\"elementor-tab-content-1882\" aria-expanded=\"false\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"elementor-accordion-icon elementor-accordion-icon-left\" aria-hidden=\"true\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<i class=\"elementor-accordion-icon-closed fa fa-search-plus\"><\/i>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<i class=\"elementor-accordion-icon-opened fa fa-search-minus\"><\/i>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<a class=\"elementor-accordion-title\" tabindex=\"0\">Biology<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div id=\"elementor-tab-content-1882\" class=\"elementor-tab-content elementor-clearfix\" data-tab=\"2\" role=\"region\" aria-labelledby=\"elementor-tab-title-1882\"><div style=\"display: block;\" role=\"tabpanel\" data-tab=\"1\" aria-labelledby=\"elementor-tab-title-2691\">\n<div title=\"Page 12\">\n<h6>Phytoplankton have been sampled using different gears:<\/h6>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<h6>a 35 <i>\u00b5<\/i>m mesh phytoplankton to sample the top 100 m of surface waters.<\/h6>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h6>a bottenet (20 <i>\u00b5<\/i>m mesh sieve)&nbsp;mounted on a CTD rosette.&nbsp;<\/h6>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h6>Different gears have also been used to sample zooplankton (micro, meso and macro), and micronekton:<\/h6>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<h6>a <strong>zooplankton multinet<\/strong> of 100 <i>\u00b5<\/i>m mesh sieve to sample smaller species including the upper part of the microzooplankton, allowing vertical collections in successive water layers.<\/h6>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h6>Traditional <strong>WP2<\/strong>, <b>WP3<\/b> and <strong>Bongo<\/strong> plankton nets (330 <i>\u00b5<\/i>m)&nbsp; to quantitatively estimate in situ abundance of mesozooplankton, macrozooplankton and gelatinous plankton.<\/h6>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div title=\"Page 12\">\n<div title=\"Page 12\">\n<ul>\n<li>\n<div title=\"Page 12\">\n<h6>a <strong>mesopelagic trawl <\/strong>for collection of micronekton.<\/h6>\n<div title=\"Page 11\">\n<div>\n<div>\n<h6>Sampling was performed at different times of the day to capture diel cycles.
